Things to do

Stonebriar Mall, located at the corner of Preston Road and Highway 121, is just three miles from the Preston Ridge campus. The 1.6 million square foot mall opened in 2000 and boasts a 24-screen movie theater, an ice rink, and several anchor stores including Macy’s, Sears, and JCPenney.

The Frisco Roughriders are the Class AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers major league baseball club and play in the Texas League’s South Division. The team originated in Shreveport in 1971 before moving to Frisco in 2003. The Roughriders play just four miles from Collin College’s Preston Ridge campus in Dr Pepper Ballpark, which seats 10,600. About Collin College

Collin College first offered classes in 1985 at the Central Park Campus in McKinney, Texas with a student body of about 5000. Today, Collin College welcomes over 52,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines. Over the years, the College has expanded to four instruction centers and three campuses, including the National Convergence Technology Center’s home at Preston Ridge in Frisco. About Frisco, Texas

In the mid-19th century, the town of Lebanon was founded on the old north-south Preston Trail (which would later become Preston Road) frequented by wagon train settlers. Later, a line of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway was being built nearby and needed periodic watering holes along the route for the steam engines. Because Lebanon was on a ridge and thus an unsuitable location for a watering hole, the hole was instead dug several miles to the west on lower ground. It was around this watering hole that a new settlement grew and would become Frisco. The town was formally named Frisco City in 1904 in honor of the railway that led to its founding.
